it was scary not knowing where i'd stay. my close friend invited me to squat with him in a small apartment that was trashed and abandoned. it was such a gift. he was warm and welcoming. we had lived together once, before either of us were evicted. our place was much nicer back then.
but that didn't matter at the time. i was just so relieved to have somewhere to stay. somewhere warm to sleep. somewhere to play drums.
we put the live wires back in the wall and covered the holes. when the walls no longer had holes, we put up the paintings we made. the longer we stayed there, the nicer it became. our friends loved coming over. we had many board games. and painting supplies we would use while watching episodes of Bob Ross. and drums. our friends were welcome to stay as long as they liked, and move in if they ever needed to. some did.
now the house was full of life. it was our space to explore and discover. it felt beautiful to get to wake up here. i sat alone in my room and burst into tears. it was so nice to be home. it was so scary not knowing where i'd stay.
